Hey everybody, if you’re in need of an internship this summer it’s never too early to start looking. The GAA has many connections with people in the industry, and ways to help you land the internship you want. Here is another resource that you can use to find companies and learn about internship requirements. Its a snazzy page put together by Conati thats rather difficult to get to, but here’s a link to make it easy:

Looking for an Internship?

Michigan has recently launched a new effort to keep local talent here in the Great Lake state.

Intern Michigan

Intern Michigan has a simple, easy to use interface. To register for this free service all you need to do is provide an e-mail address and a password.

Some interesting facts about internships

  • Employers rate internship experience as the number one most important criteria in the job candidate selection process.
  • 74% of US employers hire interns throughout the year.
  • Students make good networking contacts during their internships- which often directly lead to their full-time job after graduation.
  • 50-80% of job and internship seekers report getting work through networking
  • Students who intern typically have more interviews and/or better job offers than students who do not take the time to do an internship.
  • The federal government offers an abundance and variety of internships to both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • 50% of all federal workers could be eligible for retirement during the next five years.
  • Many internship offers are contingent upon passing a drug screen and physical exam.
  • Students who intern have more realistic expectations of “life after graduation.”

Internships: Quad/Graphics – Summer 2010

Quad/GraphicsQuad/Graphics is currently looking for an intern from Summer 2010. It is highly recommended that if you are a Junior looking for an internship to submit your resumé to them and to contact them as soon as possible (they normally have the intern picked by the end of November). An email forwarded out today has futher details:

University Internship Coordinators,

As we begin our fall recruiting season we’d like to take the opportunity to touch base with everyone. We are looking forward to another great round of qualified intern candidates to start streaming through the pipelines. Please keep in mind, the earlier we can start touching base with students for next summer’s internship the better for everyone! Typically all summer interns at Quad/Graphics have been hired by the end of November. So, we encourage you to speak with your students and have them apply early so they aren’t lost in the shuffle in November! We hope that the semester finds everyone doing well. Take care and enjoy the fall!
